Saturday’s game against Burton Albion will see the Club and Community Sports celebrate their annual ‘Community Day’.
Community Day gives the Club and Charity the opportunity to celebrate the amazing work that is done throughout the region, whilst also giving something back to the schools, partners, and community groups that they work alongside throughout the year.
The Community Sports team have issued 1,591 free tickets to local causes and schools, who will be housed in both the Dennison Trailer Terrace & MGS Terrace. The initiative is a way of introducing people to the Morecambe FC family, and will hopefully develop the next generation of Shrimps fans.
Groups will be attending from a variety of sessions that the Community Sports team deliver including:
Walking Football sessions, Special Educational Needs football sessions, Girls Kicks session, Divert programme, Marsh Community Centre, Beaumont College and Bay Star Academy!
As well as the following from primary schools that Community Sports are involved at:
Overton, St Luke’s, Great Wood, Arkholme, Slyne, Trumacar, Yealand, Torrisholme, Westgate, Willow Lane, Castle View, Glasson Dock, Mossgate, BLS, Ryelands, St Peters, Nether Kellet, Stepping Stones, St Bernadette’s, Christ Church Carnforth, Christ Church Lancaster, Sandylands, Scotforth, Wray and Chadwick!
The Shrimpettes will be back in action for the first time in two years on Saturday, and they will be performing outside the stadium and then in front of the Bartercard stand pre-match.
The Community Sports team will also have their inflatable outside JB’s Bar, and they will be running a competition for those with junior community match tickets.
The top five highest scores will get to take part in a half-time penalty shootout in the goal at the Dennison Trailer Terrace end.
