Morecambe U18s 2-0 Salford City U18s

The young Shrimps were victorious on Saturday as goals from Connor Pye and Adam Mayor netted to hand the U18s all three points on home soil.

It was an even start to the game with both sides creating some opportunities in the opening stages, but neither side could trouble each respective goalkeeper.

The first big chance of the game fell to the home side, five minutes before the break. A half-cleared corner fell to Shrimps skipper Pye, but he was held back by the Salford keeper, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot.

The youngster picked himself up off the turn and dispatched a confident penalty past the Salford keeper.

Half-time: Morecambe 1-0 Salford City

After the break, the Shrimps had a couple of opportunities that could have seen them extend their lead by a couple of goals, but they were unable to take their chances.

The half saw a 17-minute pause following a clashing of heads between two players, and Morecambe began to pull it back, with good work ethic and better structure as a team.

Injury time proved beneficial to the young Shrimps, as Jamie Nicholson crossed to Mayor, who produced a stunning volley to wrap up a well-earned three points for the home side.
