Morecambe FC commended at The Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards

27 May 2022

The Shrimps were on the winners list at Thursday night’s Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards at Anfield.

Where for the first time in two years hospitality teams from football and rugby club venues across the UK, came together to celebrate their ‘off-the-pitch’ successes, with more than 75 clubs nominated for awards across the evening.

Around 400 guests attended to represent their club’s in conference and events, matchday hospitality, chef teams, public catering, operational departments and senior management.

Events Manager Jodie Assitt was the outright winner of an inaugural award, which recognised ‘Outstanding Contribution’ in 2021, beating representatives from Brighton & Hove Albion FC and Newcastle United FC respectively.

Meanwhile the Club were awarded the Bronze Award for our Matchday Hospitality offering at a ‘small’ stadium (up to 1,000 hospitality seats). The Shrimps were the only football club to be included in the winners list for that category, with rugby clubs Worcester Warriors and Leeds Rhinos finishing ahead of us.

General Manager Ben Sadler said: “We are incredibly proud of Jodie and the lengths she goes to, making sure that anyone who visits the Mazuma Stadium, whether it be on a matchday, for an event or through the vaccination scheme, has a fantastic and positive experience. It is testament to Jodie, and truly deserved, to be awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution Award’ – nothing sums her up better.”

“It is also brilliant to see the wider Hospitality & Matchday team recognised with the ‘Matchday Hospitality Bronze Award’, coming away with the title of the best matchday hospitality experience in football, within a ‘small’ stadium (up to 1,000 covers in hospitality areas).

“It has been wonderful to see our supporters and friends back in the stadium, Local Choice Suite, and Wright & Lord executive boxes, and again, a lot of hard work has gone into creating the best matchday experience possible for all of our guests. Rest assured, Mike and the team will be raising the bar yet again next season, and we can’t wait!”

Events Manager Jodie Assitt added: "I am delighted to be recognised for the 'Outstanding Contribution Award', it has been difficult year with Covid still restricting us in certain aspects, thankfully we managed to get through that and provide a warm, welcoming service whenever anyone visited the Mazuma Stadium.

"To be awarded with the Bronze Award for our Matchday Hospitality offering is really pleasing, as a team we have worked hard all season to provide a top quality service throughout the season and to be recognised for it shows how far we have come.

"I would like to thank everyone in the hospitality team for their hard work, without their dedication and professionalism on matchday and other events over the course of the year, we would not be able to achieve what we have done so far."
