Adams: A Poor Night From Us

25 October 2022

Derek Adams admits Tuesday night’s defeat to Cheltenham was a bitterly disappointing evening for his side.

The Shrimps suffered a narrow loss at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium in a match with few chances for either side, and the Shrimps’ boss admits it was a poor showing from his side.

“I’m really disappointed because the performance was very poor from us,” he said.

“We were excellent on Saturday, but we didn’t play well or pass the ball well and didn’t compete well enough.

"There was nothing in the game from both sides and it was very lack lustre, it was a game that was played in the middle of the pitch.

"When you’re in League One and you don’t look after the ball when you have it, you’re going to get punished, and that is what happened.

“There weren’t many chances for either side, and it wasn’t a good advert for League One football.

"We played our part in that and we’ve got to do a lot better than we did tonight.”

Adams also confirmed that Farrend Rawson and Ousmane Fane will now miss Saturday’s trip to Wycombe Wanderers, with the duo picking up their fifth yellow cards of the season.

“We’ve now got Farrend Rawson and Ousmane Fane suspended for Saturday,” he said.

“That won’t be easy for us, given how tight we are within the squad at the moment."
