With the league table still tightly-grouped at this early stage of the season, Derek Adams admits three points is crucial.
Following the midweek defeat at Cheltenham, the Shrimps sit bottom of the League One table, but remain just four points clear of safety, and Adams is confident a win is all that is needed to push his side away from any trouble.
“There are a number of teams who are catchable in this division, and gaining three points is the only way to do that,” he said.
“Victories are crucial and allow you to move up the table quite quickly. It would have been perfect if we’d have gained the three points on Tuesday, as we would have caught a few other teams above us. We didn’t do that and we now need to go to Wycombe looking to get that all-important win.”
As the Shrimps make the trip to Adams Park this weekend, Adams is aware of how tough a test it could be.
“Wycombe obviously came down from the division above a couple of years ago and will probably go between both the Championship and League One over the next few seasons,” he said.
“They’ve got some good players and have a decent squad in general, so it will be a tough game for us. We have a few injuries to contend with, and Farrend Rawson and Ousmane Fane are missing at the weekend through suspension, so we’ll have a smaller squad available as we’d like to have.”
