Bedeau calls for winning mentality

7 October 2022

Jacob Bedeau says the Shrimps must approach each game with a winning mentality.

The 22-year-old says it’s up to the 11 players on the pitch as well as the substitutes to go out and do a job, and to do that, the mentality must be correct.

“You have to have the mentality that you’re going to win every game,” he said.

“Otherwise, there’s six or seven big teams in this division now and if you went into every game thinking ‘they’re a big team and we’re Morecambe’, I don’t think you get results.

“It’s about us as players and a Club and having the mindset of ‘we’re going to go and beat these teams’ because we’re in the same division for a reason.

“If you can go to these teams and play them like we did last season, and win a few, then why can’t we do that this season?

“The mindset has got to be we’re going into the game to win.”

Despite another tough game for the Shrimps in Ipswich Town on Saturday, Bedeau feels Morecambe could beat anyone on their day.

The defender continued: “It’s going to be really tough, they’re flying, they’re second [in the league] at the moment.

“When we play anyone here, on our day, I fancy us to play our hearts out against anyone and get a result.

“At the back end of last season, they came up here and we got a draw.

“They might’ve improved a bit this season so it’s going to be a tough game, but we go into any game thinking we’re in the same league, in the same division, so why can’t we go and beat them?”
