Rawson: “A good day at the office.”

22 October 2022

Farrend Rawson says it was a good day at the office following the Shrimps’ 1-0 victory over Barnsley.

Kieran Phillips' 39th minute winner proved the difference between the two sides at the Mazuma Stadium.

The Shrimps defended excellently to keep Michael Duff's men at bay, and Rawson says it was an all round performance.

"All over the pitch, everyone was outstanding, it was a good day at the office," he said.

"I think today was a really good performance, it was a bit of a complete performance, we got the goal and we showed both sides.

"We looked dangerous going forward, from set-pieces and long throws, we looked dangerous and that's what we've got to do this season, we've got to be dangerous from those kind of situations.

"All these games passing us by, we're learning bit by bit, we're still a little bit of a new squad, we're getting to know each other still a little bit."

Following victory against the Tykes, and considering Morecambe's busy schedule with games coming thick and fast, Rawson is hoping the Shrimps can now push on.

He continued: "Hopefully this is a stepping stone for us.

"We've got the result now against a very good Barnsley team and we've got full, packed fixtures full of games coming up so hopefully we can kick on now.

"I think we've shown we are a good enough side, we can compete with the top teams in the league and I think, not just this game, other games where we've been unlucky, I think we've shown in parts we can contend.

"Now it's about putting it all together, going out there and showing the belief, sticking our chest out and giving them a game.

"The fans hopefully can see we're trying things, we're working our socks off and that's the minimum, that's what we're going to give every single game.

"Hopefully now we can kick on and keep climbing."
