Shaw says Shrimps will be rewarded by playing their way

Liam Shaw believes results will come for the Shrimps if they persevere with their style of play.

Whilst Morecambe were unrewarded for their positive display against Ipswich Town last Saturday, the positives were there to take for players and staff alike.

Midfielder Shaw believes the Shrimps will start picking up points if they stick to recent levels of performance.

“If we play as we do, we shouldn’t have any problems,” he said.

“Second half [against Ipswich], we didn’t play as well as the first half, but we still deserved something out of the game, to lose was disappointing; the team performance was really good.

“We didn’t show Ipswich any respect, we just got after them straight away, I felt like we were very good first half, we’ve just got to take that start into every game we play now, we’ve got to have that mentality.

“That’s in the past now, we just need to get on with it, [we’re] looking forward to Burton on Saturday, if we can get that first half performance and keep putting in regular performances like that, I think we’ll start picking up results.”

It’s been just over a month since Shaw arrived at the Club, and the 21-year-old admits he’s thoroughly enjoying his time in North Lancashire.

He added: “I’ve settled in really well.

“All the lads and staff, the manager, I’ve just felt so welcome, and I feel really settled in.

“The last game we had, I feel I performed well, and I just need to keep that up.

“There’s not an easy game [in League One], the tempo is high, but with how many games I’ve played, I felt I’ve done well and adapted to it, it’s just time for me to kick on.

“We’re going to give everything and give the fans what they deserve, people watching and people who have travelled, [we’ll give them] a good performance.”
