Shrimps To Celebrate Community Day

13 April 2023

Our fixture against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday 15 April has been chosen to celebrate Community Day.

Community Day celebrates the excellent work carried out by the Morecambe FC Community Sports team.

Since last year's celebratory fixture against Burton Albion at the Mazuma, Community Sports have given away 1,200 tickets with a focus on local schools.

They work in over 30 primary and secondary schools, delivering P.E, breakfast and after school sports clubs as well as educational support for young people who struggle with mental health, maths, reading and PHSE.

With plenty planned and to look forward to on the day, Community Sports' CEO Stuart Glover said: "We have invited our friends from Morecambe Bay Foodbank to collect donations to help with the cost-of-living crisis - the team will also be staying to watch the match.

"Our partners More Music will be providing some entertainment on the day; community band Baybeat will be on the forecourt welcoming people to the stadium with local young DJ’s Nottlogann and DJ Kaitzy’ performing behind the Dennison stand welcoming our schools.

"The Community Sports team will be running the Shoot for Goal competition as usual, but with a twist - for just £1, participants will be given 3 attempts and receive a raffle ticket for each turn. Two fantastic prizes will be on offer, a signed shirt and a signed football.

"Additionally, the Shrimpettes will be performing outside and inside the stadium and we have flag bearers from Lune Valley U11s - we will also be having a couple of shoot outs at half time on the pitch and Christie the Cat will out and about throughout the day.

"We can't wait to celebrate a successful Community Day and urge all supporters to come down early and enjoy the event!"

Tickets for Saturday's game remain on sale at until the 15:00 kick-off.
