Stuart Glover appointed Community Sports CEO

6 April 2023

Morecambe FC Community Sports today announces the promotion of Business Manager Stuart Glover to the position of Chief Executive Officer.

Following the retirement of Janet Preston earlier in the year, Stuart will now lead the next chapter of Community Sports as it continues to develop and grow within the local area.

Stuart has a wealth of experience in this field, having held managerial roles in Sports Development with Lancaster City & Fylde Councils for over 25 years- within that time also being an award winner for the redevelopment of the Salt Ayre Leisure Centre. For the last 18 months, Stuart has been the Business Manager of Morecambe FC Community Sports, in which he has been a vital part of the leadership team of the club’s charitable arm.

Going forward, Stuart will continue to lead the progress that has been made within the Community Sports team in recent years. With realistic ambitions, Stuart and his team will be looking to find ways of increasing awareness of their current initiatives and how to grow them- as well as identifying new opportunities to support our local community and people.

On his appointment, Stuart said, “It is fantastic to take on the role of Chief Executive of Morecambe FC Community Sports and I am really proud to be tasked with leading the organisation going forward.”

“We have an excellent team in place that want to keep driving things forward and building on the successful foundations that have been laid down over the years. Hopefully with my experience, I can help both the organisation and the team continue this successful journey within our local communities.”

“I am eager that we strengthen our existing work and look at new opportunities as well, but we have to be pragmatic and sensible in how we continue to deliver the high-quality output that we do. These are challenges that we must look forward to together for the benefit of our local people.”

Chair of Morecambe FC Community Sport, Stephen Wright, added, “We are delighted to now have Stuart in post. Stuart comes with a real wealth of experience and connections that we hope will benefit the organisation going forward.”

We are all looking forward to a new chapter under Stuart’s leadership to add to the incredible successes of the past. I am confident that Stuart will drive the whole team on to even better things as we strive to serve the needs of this fantastic community.”
