Derek Adams says the Shrimps have players within the squad who can cause problems for Derby County on Saturday.
Saturday sees Morecambe travel to Pride Park to face Paul Warne’s men who currently sit fourth in the Sky Bet League One table.
The reverse fixture saw a strong Shrimps showing at the Mazuma Stadium, with the Rams having to settle for a point against an impressive Morecambe outfit, and the gaffer believes his side are capable of causing County problems.
“We go there off of a 5-1 win, we know we can create chances, yes we’ll have to be defensively good on our day because they’re very strong in that area, but we’ve got players who can hurt them,” Adams said.
“We go to a team who, before the game against West Ham, they went 19 games unbeaten, we understand the size of the football club, we did ever so well here in the first game to get a draw.
“We’ll have to be excellent on the day.”
Since defeat at Port Vale on Boxing Day, Morecambe have scored 14 and conceded six, and Adams has reiterated the importance of keeping the goal difference down.
He continued: “It always does come into your mind.
“It’s about how we can get the goal difference down, and we’ve been able to do that dramatically of late and keep it down and keep it moving in the right direction.
“The only way you can do that is to win football matches, you can’t do it with drawing games, you just need to win football matches and score goals, and that’s what we’ve done.”
