Mayor: It’s A Good Feeling

22 February 2023

Scorer Adam Mayor says getting back to winning ways on Tuesday was a good feeling for all involved.

It was the youngster who scored the only goal of the game six minutes into the second half with a left-footed thunderbolt.

The Academy graduate nearly scored with a fierce strike from distance at the end of the first 45, and he recognised the feel-good factor around the Mazuma Stadium at full time.

"As soon as you walk into the changing room, everyone's made up, the music is on," he said.

"You can see at the end of the game, the fans are all loving it, the fans stay, everyone's clapping, everyone's made up, it's a good feeling.

"I think we've deserved it, after our past few results, it's been tough for us.

"It gets the fans up for it as well, it not only helps us out on the pitch with confidence, but when you hear the fans and they're all making noise, you can hear them behind you and it keeps you going."

After starting the season within the Shrimps Academy, Mayor now boasts 28 first team appearances with four goals and two assists to his name, and he wants to keep building on his breakthrough season.

Mayor continued: "I'm just happy, each game I just take it as it comes and I just want to keep pushing on, making sure the team keep picking points up.

"In training every week, I'm up against good players as well for us, so you get used to having to defend [against] different types of players.

"I think I've adapted well to first team football and different players I'm going to be coming up against."
