Cooney: Continue To Work Hard

17 January 2023

Ryan Cooney admits morale in the squad is on a real high after the recent run of results.

The Shrimps are on a run of three straight league wins heading into Saturday, with last weekend's fixture at Cambridge United postponed.

"After the previous few wins, I think we're looking up the table rather than down it at the moment," he said.

"Morale in the squad has never been a real problem, but with these three wins we've had now, it's boosted us even more and hopefully we can keep going. It was disappointing that the match last weekend was called off, as we know we were in good form heading into it, but that's football and these things happen.

"We'll work hard down on the training ground this week and prepare the right way before the weekend."

With the defender now in his fourth season at the Mazuma Stadium, Cooney is now one of the the Club's longest serving players and admits he's humbled at the faith shown in him by the manager.

"I try to help the team where I can, and work hard week by week," he said.

"When the gaffer brought me in, it was a great to get game time and then the previous manager kept faith in me as well, so that's a really good feeling."
