Gibson: An Important Point

8 March 2023

Liam Gibson sees the point earned on Tuesday night as an important one.

Jack Lankester opened the scoring on 14 minutes before Cole Stockton’s added-time header at the end of the first half levelled proceedings.

With both sides looking to gain ground on the teams above them, it was a game neither wanted to lose.

"Especially at this stage of the season, every point is important and hopefully that's another point closer to safety," he said.

"They started quite quickly, I think it kind of took us by surprise but once we settled into the game, you could see we started playing more football and getting the ball down.

"From 20 minutes onwards, I think it was quite a positive performance.

"It was one of those games; if we wasn't going to win it, we definitely couldn't get beat so it's an imporant point."

Tuesday night's draw makes it five points from the last four games for the Shrimps.

The mood within the group is a positive one, and Gibbo admits the lads need to keep pushing on, starting with Saturday's visit to Shrewsbury Town.

He added: "I think there's quite a positive mindset in the dressing room at the minute.

"We just need to continue pushing forward and hopefully we can pick as many points up between now and the end of the season.

"I think with Shrewsbury, you know what you're going to get, it's always a tough game, especially going to their place.

"If we show the same character we did tonight, I think we'll have a chance."
