NIASSE BOLSTERS SHRIMPS ATTACKING OPTIONS AS STRIKER SIGNS FOR MORECAMBE FC.
Experienced striker Oumar Niasse has today joined Morecambe FC on a contract to the end of the 2022/23 season.
Former Everton striker Oumar has a distinguished playing career, spending 4 years at Goodison Park where netted 8 times after being signed for £13.5m. Striker Niasse would spend time on loan at Hull City & Cardiff City before joining Burton Albion in League One for the 2021-22 season.
Niasse has also had domestic football success in Senegal with US Ouakam, Turkey with Akhisar Belediyespor and in Russia with Lokomotiv Moscow earlier in his career.
At 32, Oumar has also represented his country, Senegal, as a full international.
On joining The Shrimps, Oumar has said, “It is fantastic to be here and to join the club. When I spoke to the Manager and staff it was clear that there is a togetherness and unity here that I want to be part of.”
“I see that challenge that is ahead of us, but it is one I relish and look forward to and I want to help this club achieve the target of staying in League One.”
Manager Derek Adams was delighted to bring in a striker that he feels can add to the group, “I am delighted to bring Oumar to the Mazuma Stadium. He is a player with good experience and is at a good age. We have been trying to bring in a striker for a period of time and we wanted to make sure that player was going to be the right fit which we feel Oumar will be.”
