SLO Update: Chapter 5

21 March 2023

Club Supporter Liaison Officer and Ticketing Manager Anya Wood provides an update to supporters following our Club Supporter Survey.

It’s me again. I know it has a been a while.

I would like to begin this post with another huge thank you - I feel like it’s all I ever do! Over 100 of you completed our supporter survey in December, with one supporter winning a 2023/24 season ticket. I can confirm that the winner has been contacted.

Although we didn’t receive the same number of responses as we did back in the January 2022 survey, the ones we receive, again will help form our objectives for the remainder of the season and help us continue to grow and improve the matchday experience we offer at the Mazuma Stadium. We have created a Supporter Survey Report that can be downloaded here. It takes you through a variety of match day touchpoints- what we do well and how we are going to improve, based on supporter feedback.

As some of you may know, we welcomed around 54 youth teams from the Services to Youth League (distributing over 900 tickets) at our home fixture against Cheltenham Town on Saturday 7 January 2023, and what a great way to begin the new year. The ticket initiative saw an over 74% turnout of youngsters and their team coaches at the fixture in the Dennison Trailers stand and helped create a wonderful atmosphere, topped off by a fantastic win!

Working with the Morecambe FC Community Sports to offer ticketing initiatives like this helps promote the matchday experience and is a perfect opportunity to encourage new supporters and families to the Stadium on a regular basis.

We also celebrated the Morecambe FC Academy, at our home game against Forest Green Rovers, on Saturday 11 February. MFC welcomed over 500 our academy players and their families, who filled the Dennison Trailers Terrace and yet again helped create a fantastic atmosphere.

Like earlier last year, we will be looking to hold another Fans Focus Workshop over the coming months. Supporters will be asked to register their interest to be involved again, and this will enable us to keep to meeting and working towards a specific agenda to make it worthwhile for us all. We will discuss the results from the supporter survey, along with the objectives set and how we are working towards achieving them. We will also spend some time looking at the outcomes of the EFL Family Excellence visit that we had in November.

Going completely off the topic of football, but nevertheless as important. For the first time ever, we will be holding two open air summer shows here at the Mazuma Stadium in May 2023! We bring to you the stars of the West End’s ABBA and Queen who will performing for you from the pitch! Friday 26th May 2023 will see ABBA taking to the stage, so put on your dancing shoes and take a chance on me that it will be a fabulous night. Then on Saturday 27th May 2023, Queen will be putting us under pressure to bring to a second night of magic, tickets available now at ticketsmorecambefc.com. Did I try a little too hard to be funny? All ticket prices currently remain at the early bird price of £22.50 for seating and £17.50 for standing. We will be donating 100% of the £2.50 booking fee per person to St John’s Hospice, to help them continue with the amazing palliative care support that they already offer in the local area.

As always, any questions you may have or any ideas you may want to pursue, give me a message on twitter @Shrimps_SLO or drop me an email on slo@morecambefc.com. All suggestions made are appreciated and considered, albeit not guaranteed but are always taken on board.
