Morecambe FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Smith to the role of Head of Media & Communications.
With current Head of Media & Communications, Dale Pryde-MacDonald, departing to take up an exciting opportunity within Scottish Football we are proud to be promoting Matt from within our current media team.
Matt, who joined the club over two years ago, has been an integral part in the development of the media department at the club in recent times. After presenting a strong and clear plan of how he would lead the department, Matt will take the reins on 10th November when Dale vacates the post.
Initially joining as a volunteer in early 2021, Matt became a part-time member of staff in that summer, whilst still studying for his degree. After completing his studies earlier this summer, Matt was offered the chance to come in full-time and has been a valuable asset during his period at the club over the last two years.
After 9 months at the club, we bid farewell to Dale Pryde-MacDonald. Having joined us from Ross County in February, Dale has played a part in various internal developments, has led on the marketing launch of our new kit and season tickets this summer, as well as developing the media & communications department – further integrating his team and volunteers into the club.
Dale has been offered an exciting opportunity North of the border- which for his own personal development he felt he couldn’t turn down.
On departing the club, Dale said “It has been an honour to be part of the Morecambe FC family. I want to thank each and every member of staff and the many supporters who have made me feel so welcome here from day one. There is a real passion for this football club from everybody involved and I leave with nothing but fond, happy memories, and look forward to my return visits in the future.”
“Specifically, I would like to thank and congratulate Matt Smith who has been a fantastic asset to me over my tenure. I also want to recognise and thank those who have been part of my team since February: Jack Taylor, Derek Quinn, Mark Swindlehurst, Brian Campbell and more recently James Gates. I wish you all the very best for the exciting times ahead”
On being appointed Head of Media & Communications, Matt added, “I’m delighted to be appointed Head of Media & Communications at Morecambe Football Club. After starting as a volunteer nearly three years ago, it’s been a wonderful journey for me personally and professionally.”
“I have to place on record my thanks to Matt Rushton, Ryan Daly, Harry Lyons and Dale Pryde-MacDonald for their guidance and support over the years, they’ve all been integral for me to get to where I am today.”
“This exciting new opportunity presents me with the chance to repay the faith and support shown in me by the Club over the years, and I can’t wait to knuckle down and get started.”
Following the departmental change, CEO Ben Sadler remarks, “Our thanks and best wishes go to Dale who moves on to his next opportunity, leaving us in a better place than when he joined, which is all we can ask. Naturally, Dale’s move has presented an opportunity for Matt to now step up and lead the department, and we are delighted that we can maintain a quality continuity from within the club in such a key role. Congratulations to Matt on a well-earned promotion, and we look forward to watching both Dale & Matt’s progression in the future.”
