Ged Brannan joins Coaching Team

4 September 2023

Morecambe FC can announce that Ged Brannan has today joined the club as 1st Team Coach and Senior professional development coach under Derek Adams.

Brannan, who was most recently part of the coaching team at Accrington Stanley, has experience of coaching at adult and youth level-combining roles with Stanley’s Under 23 team at the same time as working under John Coleman with the first team at the Crown Ground.

As well as working within the 1st team, Ged will also oversee the continuing development of senior academy players transitioning into the 1st team squad. This will help to bridge the gap between senior academy players and their development in to the adult game.

In his playing career, Ged amassed over 575 appearances, most notably with Tranmere Rovers, Manchester City, Motherwell, Wigan Athletic as well as a two-year spell with Morecambe between 2005-2007. Ged finished his career with Burscough in 2016.

Ged begins working with us today, and we warmly welcome him back to the club.

On appointing Brannan as 1st team coach, Manager Derek Adams said, “I am delighted to have Ged joining our staff. He is a very highly regarded coach who pushes himself and the people around him and he will be a great asset for me to work with going forward.”

“Most importantly, Ged knows this club and what the club stands for, at the same time as having a real appetite to work and develop young players, which will be vital for us as we continue to our progression.”
