Brandon Barker is on board!

18 January 2024

Winger Brandon Barker has joined Morecambe on a deal until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

A product of the Manchester City academy from the age of eight, the 27-year-old made his competitive debut for the Citizens in a 2016 FA Cup clash against Chelsea.

Throughout his time at the Etihad, Barker enjoyed loan spells with the likes of Rotherham, NAC Breda, Hibs and Preston North End; his first goal for the Lilywhites came in a Carabao Cup victory over the Shrimps in August 2018.

He remained with the Blues until the summer of 2019, when Scottish Premiership giants Rangers came calling. Following 18 months and one league title at Ibrox, Barker spent four months on loan at Oxford United before leaving Gers’ the following winter.

In recent years, a short stint at Reading was followed by a season with Omonia Nikosia in Cyprus, where he helped guide the team to the Cypriot Cup last campaign.

As well as a wealth of domestic experience, Barker has represented England 15 times at youth level.

“I'm absolutely delighted, I can't wait to get going and hopefully I can really help the team," he said.

"The boys are obviously doing well this year, a few games in hand and not too far off the play-offs, so hopefully I can bring my experience in and help the team climb the table.

"The lads have been very welcoming, it's nice for me because I can live at home for the first time in a very long time so that's an added bonus, so it's been brilliant so far.

"[I look] to be direct, hopefully hit the ground running and become much sharper over the coming games. Hopefully I'll excite them [the fans], get them on their feet and get them in to watch us."

Brandon will be sponsored by TP Financial Solutions during his time with the Club.

*This move is subject to international clearance.
