Protecting our beautiful game at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium

17 January 2024

We’ve been lucky and are thankful to receive such incredible support both at home and on the road so far this campaign, which as you know, makes such a difference to the players and staff alike.

We aim to make our home a fortress for every visiting team, making the Mazuma a difficult place to visit for any opposition, and we do that very well – but we must do so by safe and legal means.

As we pass the midway point of the season, we’d like to remind supporters the importance of maintaining a safe and enjoyable matchday experience at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.

Last season, the EFL launched measures to address dangerous and illegal crowd behaviour which have continued throughout this season, which includes entering the pitch without permission, carrying or using smoke bombs or pyrotechnics and throwing objects, as well as drug use and discriminatory behaviour.

Unfortunately, we have now had a number of incidents this season at fixtures, both home and away, that have led to action been taken by the FA against the Club. This is now likely to result in a fine that we can ill afford at this time, following an object being thrown onto the pitch at the end of the Harrogate Town fixture on 1 January.

Incidents such as this are criminal offences and the police are taking formal action against those responsible this season, which the Club follow up with substantial stadium bans.

Morecambe Football Club prides itself on being a welcoming, family club at the heart of its community. Whether you’re a player, staff member, official or supporter, you should be made to feel safe and welcome at our home.

Play your part in stamping out antisocial and discriminatory behaviour!
