Charlie Brown pens contract extension

5 March 2024

Shrimps’ forward Charlie Brown has signed a contract extension, keeping him at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium until the summer of 2025 with the option of a further year.

Since arriving at the Club last summer, the 24-year-old has made 17 appearances and scored four goals across all competitions, including a memorable late winner against MK Dons.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Brown said: “I'm absolutely delighted, the Gaffer has shown a lot of faith and trust in me and I'm glad my hard work and performances on the pitch have earned me a new deal.

"I can go out and play with freedom and just enjoy it now. I'm loving my football at the minute and I'm excited about the end of this season and next."

Manager Ged Brannan spoke of his delight at securing the services of Brown.

“I'm delighted, we've started planning for next season and he's in our plans," the Gaffer said.

"He's done really well since I arrived at the Club, he's taken his chance with both hands and has been brilliant. He's a great lad, great around the changing room and great around the other players.

"He knows the way we want to play, he's a bright player, clever, loads of movement off the ball which is the way we want our forwards to play."
