Liverpool born McGowan is the youngest Shrimps player to play in the EFL after making his debut in Morecambe’s 2-0 defeat against Torquay United at the end of the 2012/13 season.
The full-back came through the youth system based at Lancaster & Morecambe College and has become a first team regular at the Globe Arena.
After making fried appearances at either side of the Shrimps’ back line, the youngster saw his first prolonged spell in the starting line up during the 2015/16 season when the left full-back at the time Lawrence Wilson suffered a knee injury which kept him out for a lengthy spell.
Right footed McGowan then played at left back for a large period and established himself as a Football League full back who can play either side.
