Defender Liam Gibson joined the Shrimps in September 2020.
The left-back, who spent his early career at boyhood club Newcastle United, enjoyed loan spells as Gateshead, Accrington Stanley, and Grimsby Town before arriving at the Mazuma Stadium.
As well as proving himself on the pitch, the Stanley-born man has done well to battle serious illness off the field after an 18-month fight with ulcerative colitis, leading to a blood clot.
Gibson did tremendously well to come back from illness and, after signing an initial one-year deal, he was rewarded following a successful 2020/21 campaign with a two-year contract in June 2021 under manager Stephen Robinson.
