Jim wants response to FA Cup exit

BOSS Jim Bentley says his side are determined to get back to winning ways after last weekend's disappointing FA Cup exit.

Bentley says his side are determined to bounce back from the Shrimpers' shocker.

He said: “We’ve got to make sure we respond in the right way against Rochdale on Saturday.

“We went out (of the FA Cup) with a whimper and it was a bit embarrassing to be honest.

“I want the players to be fired up and put last week’s defeat to one side and show the fans they were hurt as well.

“I certainly was and I want my team to mirror me so hopefully we can put on a performance and get a result.”

“We want to get back to winning ways and there’s no better place to do it in a game like this where both clubs are in a decent position.

“The league’s very tight, you win a couple and you could be right up there and you lose a couple you could drop quite considerably.

Despite the obvious disappointment from last week Bentley says the Shrimps' fans have a lot to be positive about.

He said: “We’re in a decent position and we’ve got to be positive about that.

“We’re well on track with where we want to be and are ahead of last season.

“People have got to understand that if you’d said we’d be fifth after 15 games, three points off the top and been on Sky twice in the Capital One Cup we’d have been delighted.

“Yeah we had a blip last week but we go into every game to win and this is no different.”
