Boss up for manager of the month award

1 October 2013

Jim shortlisted for top gong

BOSS Jim Bentley has been nominated for the Sky Bet League 2  Manager of the Month Award for September,

The full nominations are:

Jim Bentley (Morecambe)
Guided his side through an unbeaten month which had three tricky away fixtures out of four. He sent his team out to attack, scoring three times each in the wins at Southend United and Newport County in a haul of eight points in September.

Paul Cook (Chesterfield)
Has his team playing delightful one-touch football – and with an end result, too. Three wins out of four in September, including over fellow pacesetters Oxford United and AFC Wimbledon, kept them clear at the top of League 2.

Paul Cox (Mansfield Town)
Has adapted to life as a Football League manager with ease. An unbeaten month with 10 points from 12. The highlight was a hard-fought 1-0 victory at fierce rivals Chesterfield which ended the home side’s unbeaten record.

Keith Hill (Rochdale)
12 points from 12 as Rochdale began to show some of the swagger that characterised Hill’s first spell at the club. His straight talking fits the club perfectly and helped to lift them into the early season play-off positions.

The winners will be announced on Friday October 4 2013

The judging panel comprises former Charlton Athletic manager Alan Curbishley; Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins
