First Taste For Kelleher

17 July 2015

Kelleher happy with first taste of first team action

YOUNGSTER Jack Kelleher said he was happy with his first taste of first team action against Kendal.

The teenager, who was handed a one year contract in the summer, caught the eye of Shrimps' fans with a hand in two of his side's four second half goals in the 5-0 win.

The Liverpudlian won a penalty when brought down in the box by Robbie Williams and then set up Kevin Ellison for a goal with a neat flick.

Jack said: "I really enjoyed it. All that was missing was a goal really which would have been nice but overall I can't complain.

"Even though it was a friendly it was still a step up in pace but I soon got used to it and I was glad to have played my part in a couple of goals.''

Boss Jim Bentley praised Jack and fellow youngster Charlie Bailey for their performances.

He said: "Both of the lads did really well. Both of them are good players.

“They’ve got strengths which we’ve seen in their development in the youth set-up and we were really pleased with their contributions.''
