Miller Shortlisted

3 November 2015

Shaun Miller shortlisted for League 2 player of the month award.

SHRIMPS' striker Shaun Miller has been nominated for the October Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month Award.

Miller, who has scored seven goals in his last six games has been shortlisted for the award alongside Nicky Adams of Northampton Town, Curtis Nelson from Saturday's rivals Plymouth Argyle and Bristol Rovers striker Matty Taylor.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.

The decision will be announced on Friday, November 6.

The citations are:

Nicky Adams (Northampton Town) - midfielder

In a month of goals in League 2, Adams was king of the assists, directly setting up seven of his side’s 13 goals with his sweet left foot. Hard work from his wide left position complimented a steady supply of quality crosses and passes.

Shaun Miller (Morecambe) - striker

Intent on making up for time lost to injury, the former Crewe trainee’s lob against Bristol Rovers was his first goal in nearly a year. Highlighted by a 30-yard dipping volley in the 5-2 win at AFC Wimbledon, he scored six in five October games alone.

Curtis Nelson (Plymouth Argyle) – central defender

A veteran of 200 games at just 22, the Argyle captain superbly marshalled a defence which conceded just three goals in six games. Athletic, mobile and strong in the air, his comfort on the ball helped to set a platform for his team.

Matty Taylor (Bristol Rovers) - striker

After a career spent in non-league, the 25-year-old has adapted superbly to the Football League, bringing teammates into play and scoring vital goals. His three goals in five games included late winners at Mansfield Town and Cambridge United.
