Positive Response

30 January 2016

Jim Bentley looking for positive response this afternoon versus Newport County.

SHRIMPS’ boss Jim Bentley says he is looking for a positive response when his side look to make it six wins from six against Newport at the Globe Arena.

The Shrimps have won all five previous encounters with Newport and Bentley is looking for a similar result this afternoon but says his team need to raise their game after Tuesday’s late defeat to Mansfield.

He said: “To be fair to the lads when we’ve asked for a response in the past we’ve usually got it.

“But they should be banging walls down to get at Newport because I know I certainly am.

“I can’t wait for the next game. In football, you can’t dwell on the past and you’ve got to look to the future and be positive.

“It’s another home game straight away which I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into knowing another three points will get us back on track.”

“We missed a great opportunity on Tuesday and when you have chances to take points like we did we should be taking it, especially when you’re 1-0 up on 85 minutes.

“That would have put us right on the outskirts with a game in hand on one or two of the other teams with another home game coming up.’’

Looking at previous games against Newport he said: “We’ve come from behind a couple of times, there’s been sendings off and plenty of goals but we’ve won every game.

“We seem to be a little bit of a bogey side for them. I don’t read too much into that though.

“There’s a new manager and new players in the set-up that will give them a little boost.”
