Bamber Bridge Reaction

13 July 2016

“Everything we wanted from tonight we got.”

BOSS Jim Bentley was happy with his side's efforts in their friendly victory over Bamber Bridge.

Morecambe, who included eight trialists in their ranks, were 3-0 winners at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium with Alex Kenyon’s deflected cross giving The Shrimps the lead early in the second half before two late Cole Stockton goals made sure of victory.

The Shrimps boss said: “The training’s gone well over the last two weeks and you can see the players were chomping at the bit to get game time.

“We’ve had a few trialists in tonight and a couple of young lads in Ben Hedley and Tyler Brownsword who are in our EPPP and I thought both did very well considering it’s their first time with the first team.

“There were some strong performances and we’ve come through injury free.

“It was a great night all round for us. We’re up and running and this has been the perfect exercise for us.”

Bentley was keen to credit Bamber Bridge for their efforts, the Evo-Stik First Division North side having also run Preston North End close in an earlier friendly.

He said: “The non-league lads compete well, they all have a good go and they are quite advanced because they’ve had a couple of games themselves.

“I thought they played some good stuff and caused us some problems.

“Everything we wanted from tonight we got.”
