LINCOLN PREVIEW

11 August 2017

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley says his side will be have to be ready to face an upbeat Lincoln City who will be cheered on by a massive crowd for their first game back in the Football League on Saturday.

Last season the Shrimps went to newly promoted Grimsby on the opening day of the season and went down 2-0 to the Mariners who were cheered on by a big crowd to mark the occasion.

Bentley said: “It will be tough because Lincoln will be really up for it.

“They have been out of the Football League for a few years and they are expecting a big crowd to celebrate. It will be very similar to the game at Grimsby last year when they really wanted to make the most of the day. The crowd gave them a real lift and made it hard for us.

“Hopefully we will have learned from that and not let that worry us this year and play our own game. We can take heart from what we have seen so far this year and we will definitely be looking to spoil the party.’’

New loan signing Elliot Osborne is expected to be in the squad with Mitchell Lund the main doubt after picking up an injury at Barnsley in midweek.
