BLACKBURN PREVIEW

Morecambe v Blackburn Rovers, Friday, kick-off 7:30pm

20 July 2017

SHRIMPS boss Jim Bentley is hoping his side can learn from the mistakes they made against Preston North End when they take on Blackburn Rovers at the Globe Arena on Friday evening.

Morecambe suffered their first pre season defeat of the campaign on Tuesday night with Bentley admitting that the game showed there is still a lot of work to be done on and off the field before the season kicks off in August.

Looking at the Preston game he said: "They were a very good side and we knew it was going to be a different game to the first couple.
“We knew it was going to be a defensive shape session and that’s exactly what it was.

“I was a little bit disappointed with our performance with the ball, some of our defensive shape work was okay but we’re a little behind I feel and we’re still a few players short.

“We’re bringing young kids on, we’ve got a couple of injuries and we haven’t got the players in we need.

“There’s plenty of work still to be done but overall the main thing is we didn’t pick up any injuries and it was a good workout.

“There were positives but also plenty to work and we will do that on Friday.

"Blackburn have had a few bad years but Tony Mowbray has brought in some good players over the summer and they will a very decent side.

"We will need to take all the learning we can from the game and improve in certain areas.

"Defensively our shape wasn't too bad on Tuesday but we have to look to improve at the other end of the field where we got into some good areas to threaten the ‘keeper but we didn’t do that too much.”

The game kicks off at 7.30pm.
