CAMPBELL PLEASED WITH DEBUT

13 July 2017

Summer signing Adam Campbell made his Morecambe debut in the pre-season victory at Bamber Bridge and contributed to the first 45 minutes of the away win.

The 22-year-old joined the Shrimps on a free transfer last month following his release from Notts County. The striker took no time making an impact, rattling the Brig woodwork just after the half-hour mark.

“It’s always good to have that first game of pre-season out of the way and it was a special one with it being my first game for the club. The boys took the win and that’s always a good platform to build on.”

Campbell added pre-season is progressing to plan with his new club.

“The first couple of weeks back is all about running and fitness so it was good to see our performance so early. We have new players and some of the young lads so it was all about getting used to each other’s game. We’ve only done a few sessions on shape and movement but it’s paying off already. Pre-season is all about getting to know each other and adding sharpness all the time.

Reflecting on his move after a two-year spell with the Magpies the former Newcastle United man said he has settled into life with Morecambe.

“I’ve found myself a nice club with a good manager and a good set of lads. So, it’s time for me to show what I can do. I want to get on the pitch, score goals and win games. I’m looking forward to the start already.”

Morecambe are next in action this Saturday when local rivals Lancaster City visit the Globe Arena. Kick-off 3:00pm.
