Dan Nizic called up by Australia U23 squad.
SHRIMPS keeper Dan Nizic has been called up by the Australia Under 23 development squad.
The former Burnley man is in a 22-man 'Australian development squad' that will gather in Spain this week for underage international friendly matches with Austria and Finland.
The nine-day camp will be led by coach Josep Gombau and is designed to prepare the players for the rigours of international football.
Gombau said: "A lot of players in this squad we haven't worked with before so this camp allows us to bring them in and expose them to the national team setup and see the levels they are at and how they are tracking.
"We need to try to know every single Australian player with potential and work hard to bring them in.’’
Shrimps’ boss Jim Bentley said: “It is great news for Dan and a real honour for the club to have an international player on its books.
“It will be a great experience for Dan and I am sure he will benefit from it.’’
Nizic will miss the Shrimps’ next two games against Accrington and Mansfield with youngster Niall Maher added to the first team squad.
