ROCHE SET FOR 500TH LEAGUE APPEARANCE

8 September 2017

BARRY Roche is hoping to make his 500th Football League appearance when the Shrimps face Notts County at Meadow Lane on Saturday.

The popular Shrimps' stopper recently passed 400 games for the Shrimps but is set for another milestone with his 500th appearance since making his debut for Nottingham Forest.

It is an occasion Roche is looking forward to.

He said: "To reach 500 Football League appearances is a great achievement and it will be a proud moment for me if I get the nod to play.

"Most of those games of course have been with Morecambe and I certainly feel like I have played the best football of my career here.

"I just hope we can mark the occasion with the three points like we did on my 400th Morecambe game on the opening day of the season.''

Looking ahead to the game he said: "We have done pretty well against Notts County in recent years but they have invested heavily this year and have some really experienced players such as Shola Ameobi and Jon Stead and it will be a tough game.

"We have been solid away from home though so far and we will look to maintain that type of form on Saturday.''
