SHRIMPS’ boss Jim Bentley has thanked fans for their support over the past few weeks.
Bentley was reacting to the fans’ positive reaction despite their 2-0 defeat against Oldham at the Globe Arena last week whilst seeing his side dominate for long periods.
He said: “I heard people say things to me I haven’t heard in seven years.
“Against Exeter, I was walking off the pitch at the end and there were three or four people who shook my hand – and it was the same feeling against Oldham.
“I remember in my first year, we got beaten by Bristol Rovers in a game we didn’t deserve to lose.
“If the crowd clap you off then you can’t do any more.”
“We didn’t really hit the heights of the Northampton game but we did in spells.
“I respect the fans and the way they were with us at the end and I have received a lot of positive comments during the week too.
“We have to continue doing what we can and, hopefully, someone will get a pummelling sooner rather than later.
“There is plenty to be positive about with the last two games seeing the opposition goalkeeper being their man of the match but we have to keep going and of course we have to score goals when we are on top of games because it is all about results at the end of the day.”
