JIM BENTLEY | "We need a win as soon as possible"

11 October 2019

Shrimps boss Jim Bentley says his side's SkyBet League Two fixture versus Bradford City on Saturday is "a big game" and "we need a win as soon as possible."

The Shrimps finished their last home league fixture strongly, overturning a 2 goal half time deficit to draw with Northampton Town 2-2 on September 28th.

After a bright start the following week at Vale Park, Jim Bentley saw his side reduced to 10 men on the half-hour mark when Jordan Cranston was dismissed by referee, Charles Breakspear with the Shrimps leading 1-0.

Despite a spirited performance, the depleted Shrimps side were beaten 3-1 but the Morecambe boss is hoping his side can take the positives from the game and turn results around on Saturday.

Bentley added: "Performances haven't been bad, but results haven't been great.

"There's no better time to do it than against one of the fancied sides and one of, if not the biggest away crowd we'll have at the Globe all season.

"When there is a large away following it always makes a good game because of the atmosphere and Bradford will travel in good numbers, so it's a good opportunity for the home fans to rise to the challenge and out-sing the opposition. We have to do the same on the field of play and try to get the three points that we all want.

"We've got a few injuries but whatever 11 players ago out, they'll be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition. They'll know their roles and responsibilities within the team and hopefully, they can all give a good account of themselves.

"It'll be a tough game but one we're looking forward to. Bradford are a good side, they have a good manager and they're in decent form, but we'll be looking to win the game and hopefully we can do that."
