Taylor enjoying life at the Shrimps

8 August 2022

After making his first start in a Shrimps shirt on Saturday against Peterborough United, Jake Taylor admits he is loving life at the Mazuma Stadium.

The midfielder joined Derek Adams’ side in the summer having made the switch from fellow Sky Bet League One outfit, Port Vale, and the 23-year-old says he is working hard to force his way into the starting XI on a consistent basis.

He said: “We have a good group of lads, we are all working hard trying to pull in the same direction, on a day-to-day basis it is really enjoyable place to be.

“Having that banter with the lads in the dressing room and working hard in on the training ground, with eyes on Tuesday night and Saturday respectively.

“As a footballer you want to start every game that you possibly can, it was a difficult game for you to make your first start in but it is what it is and I enjoyed pulling on the shirt again.”

Stoke City are the visitors on Tuesday night in Round One of this season’s Carabao Cup, and the former Valiant is relishing a tie against opposition from the league above.

He added: “Tuesday night’s game is a cup competition, you always want to win no matter what game it is, we want to get into the next round but we know it will be a tough test against a side in the division above.

“We had a good run out against Middlesbrough in pre-season, which in a way gets you prepared for a game like this, that is why you have all different types of challenges before the season gets underway.

“As a team we are well prepared for the game, we know what we are going to get with Stoke, they are a team that likes to dominate possession, going off the Middlesbrough and Huddersfield game in pre-season we know it is going to be a tough game.”
