Bedeau excited to get started

4 January 2022

Jacob Bedeau says he is ‘raring to go’ after signing on loan from Burnley for the rest of the 2021/22 season.

The 22-year-old centre-back already boasts more than 110 career appearance to date, seven of which came in Sky Bet League One for Bury in 2016/17.

After departing the Shakers, Bedeau made the move to Aston Villa where he played 42 times for the U23 side, scoring once in a 2-1 defeat over Stoke City.

The defender then moved to Scunthorpe United where, over a two-and-a-half year spell, he made 53 appearances, including once against the Shrimps in April 2021.

In the summer, Bedeau joined Premier League side Burnley, linking up with the U23s under the reign of Michael Jackson before joining Stephen Robinson’s side until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

“I was buzzing when my agent said Morecambe were interested in taking me on loan, as soon as I knew that, I just wanted to get it over the line as quickly as possible,” he said.

“It’s a League One good club on the up from last year so I was really interested and [I’m] really raring to go once it was over the line.

“We [Scunthorpe United] played you twice last year and I know some of the players, I remember some of them, so I know they’re a good bunch, and meeting them today, they’ve been a good bunch as well, so I’m really looking forward to getting going.”

Bedeau is hoping to hit the ground running after landing at the Mazuma Stadium, and he says Shrimps fans can expect hard working performances each time he pulls on the Morecambe shirt.

He added: “I give my all, I’ll step out from the back, I’ll be physical, competitive and just want to win every header, every tackle, and also try and play a little bit.

“I just want to keep learning, I think as a young player, you’ve got to keep learning and keep progressing in football.

“I think coming to Morecambe, it’s another step from where I was last season, or at the start of this season, and so I just want to make that step and do really well.”
