Stopper Smith benefitting from tough Pre-Season

8 July 2022

Shrimps' keeper Adam Smith says Pre-Season has been one of the hardest he has ever faced.

Smith signed a new one-year deal in the summer after arriving in February on an initial six-month deal.

After making one appearance last season, in a home 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers, the 29-year-old penned a new one-year deal with the Club last month.

The shot stopper admits he has had to join the outfield players with their running drills, something he has not had to do too often in the past.

He joked: "I've never had a pre-season as tough as this!

"I'm used to all the goalkeeping work and I'll do that all day long but I've never been the best of runners and it has been hard but ultimately enjoyable.

"I'm not really built for running but it's all about getting us ready for the season and I'm looking forward to the friendlies kicking off this week.

"It will be good to get back playing and making sure we are ready for the opening day of the season.''
