Gnahoua looks to take confidence from Forest Green win

23 September 2022

Forward Arthur Gnahoua hopes the Shrimps can take confidence from last weekend’s win ahead of Saturday’s game against Cambridge United.

As well as taking all-three-points from Forest Green, Derek Adams’ men succeeded in another penalty shoot-out on Tuesday night, their third of the season, against Hartlepool United in the Papa John’s Trophy.

With a second successive league win in Morecambe’s sights, Gnahoua says the Shrimps must seek confidence from their recent successes.

“Every game we play in and win, obviously we get more confident, so we just need to keep going,” he said.

“It’s always important to get a good result, we managed to get our first win, so hopefully we can build on that and hopefully get some more points.

“It’s always good to get a win in the last minute, we worked hard that game [Forest Green Rovers away], so we deserved to win.

“Every game is important, cup games and league games, it just builds our confidence, so we just need to keep going.”

The 29-year-old has featured in eight games across all competitions so far this season, seven of which have come in League One.

Having scored two excellent goals already, against Fleetwood Town in the league and Rotherham United in the Carabao Cup respectively, Gnahoua is hoping to keep scoring and repay the fans’ faith.

“I’ve been playing games, and scoring two goals, I just need to keep going and try to get some more goals,” he added.

“You just need to stay consistent and hopefully get some more goals.

“In this league, every team is a good team, so it’s going to be a difficult game [against Cambridge United], so we need to be focussed and hopefully do well in this game as well.

“The fans are always supporting us so hopefully we can work hard and get the three points for them.”
