Meet Community Sports CEO Stuart Glover

7 June 2023

Having now been in post a period of time, we meet the new Chief Executive Officer of Morecambe FC Community Sports, Stuart Glover…

How long have you worked at Morecambe FC Community Sports?

All together I have worked for MFCCS for 18 months, initially joining as the Business Manager before my promotion to CEO a couple of months ago.

Why do you enjoy working at MFCCS?

We deliver fantastic services to our local community. We really have a diverse range of programmes and projects that support people from early years right through to later life and its humbling to see the progress the charity has made with these projects over time. Also I love supporting the club on matchdays, I think our recent Family Excellence score shows that, by working together with the club, we can deliver a really special matchday experience.

What is the part of your job that keeps you coming back?

Its two-fold. Firstly, developing the charity itself. That can be through new projects or changing up our existing projects and programmes. Also, developing our people, that is something I am really passionate about. I want the team to continue becoming better and more developed and that is a central focus of what I want to achieve going forward.

Give us a quick insight in to what your job entails?

It really is full on. One minute you are writing funding bids for projects and the next working with the EFL Trust on a different project. You can be jumping about all over the place from the office to one of our projects at the stadium or in the local area. There is also a lot of governance related tasks such as finance, policies, procedures and one thing that you are never short of its meetings, they come in spadefuls!

What did you do before joining MFCCS?

Prior to COVID, I was the Manager of the Salt Ayre Leisure Centre. It was a big job taking the centre through its transition and one I am immensely proud of being part of. We picked up numerous national, regional and local awards during my time there, and those are the moments that really stick with you, as we were a good team that consistently achieved above expectation.
