Young Shrimps aiming to be clinical in Wales says Ras

18 January 2024

This weekend our U18s take on Wrexham in the Youth Alliance League at Colliers Park (12pm kick-off).

Speaking ahead of our clash in Wales, Lead PDP Coach Ollie Ras said: “We’re really looking forward to Saturday’s game.

“We’ve played them a number of times already this season [in both the Youth Alliance League and FA Youth Cup].

“Both games we’ve played against them have been really competitive.

“It’s an interesting one to prepare for, as we faced fairly different sides in both competitions in quick succession.”

Last weekend the young Shrimps were defeated 2-0 by Accrington Stanley in Kendal.

When asked what his side will be looking to improve on in their next outing, he said: “We’ll look to try and be a bit more clinical and get some good crosses into dangerous areas.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to cause them some problems.”

Ahead of our upcoming contest, Ras provided us with an injury update.

“Joe Lynchey has recently returned to training and is getting stronger day by day. It’s one we’ll have to assess during the week, with a view of him potentially being involved at the weekend.

“Callum Cooney, who spent time on the sidelines in recent weeks, returned to action last weekend for us, which is brilliant.

“He came on at right-back for Lewis Ballantyne and did very well.

“We’re moving in the right direction getting people back to full fitness.”
