MORECAMBE boss Derek Adams was full of praise for his side after they came from behind to beat in-form Orient 2-1 at the Mazuma Stadium on Tuesday night.
Second half goals from Carlos Mendes-Gomes and skipper Sam Lavelle saw the Shrimps come back after Danny Johnson’s converted from close range in the 18th minute to give the O’s the lead.
Adams said: “It was a great win. Orient started the game very well and passed the ball around well for the first 25 minutes and got a deserved goal from a good move where Johnson did what he does well and got in front of his man to volley home.
“They made us work really hard but we stayed in the game and showed great spirit to fight back. We started to create chances towards the end of the first half and produced some good moves but couldn’t get back in the game before the break.
“We carried that on in the second half. We were a threat and we created some good chances and got the equaliser from a goalmouth scramble and then got the winner with a really well worked goal with another good move involving Adam Phillips and Carlos. They have got a good understanding now. Carlos makes some great runs which defenders find difficult to cope with and Adam does well to find him.
“We saw tonight what a great spirit these lads have. We went one-nil down and were not dealing well with them for the opening period but we got it through it and I have to give the lads credit for that as we then began to exert our style on them and got on top and took an excellent three points to keep our good home form going and I think we deserved to win the game.’'
