Manager Derek Adams says there is no margin for error as his side look to pick up valuable points that could ensure the Shrimps’ stay in Sky Bet League One for another season.
With 12 League One games remaining and a long trip to Plymouth Argyle at the weekend, Adams says people should not be quick to write off the Shrimps.
“We need a run of wins that will get us out of the trouble that we are in, we can’t lose many games between now and the end of the season, we have to pick up valuable points,” he said.
“We have a really tough run-in, we have to win really big games to get us out of this cycle, the players have shown in training that they have got that fighting spirit, we just need that quality to get us the goals.
“Everyone wrote Morecambe off last season and said that they couldn’t get promoted and we did, so, you should never write off Morecambe Football Club and do at your will.”
Adams spent four years at Home Park and oversaw a promotion to League One during his tenure, and he says he enjoyed a memorable time with the Pilgrims.
“Is it a tough one because they are trying to push into the promotion places and we’re the ones that are trying to push out of the relegation zone,” he added.
“It is a fantastic football club, I enjoyed four years there and you see the backing that they get when they are doing well.
“They have got a fantastic fanbase, they deserve to be in a higher division than they are in.”
