Manager Derek Adams says he his side’s display at Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon was their best performance of the season so far.
The Shrimps had to settle for a point at the Memorial Stadium with Jensen Weir and Kieran Phillips finding the back of the net against the Gas, and Adams says his side were unlucky not to walk away with all three points.
“I thought that was our best performance of the season, we played really well and I thought the players that came into the side and the shape of the side caused Bristol Rovers problems all day,” he said.
“We scored a fantastic goal through Jensen Weir to go ahead in the game, he put it right into the top corner, we created some really good opportunities and it was an end-to-end game.
“They make it 1-1, then we go ahead again, a great pass for Kieran Phillips to get his first goal for the Club, it was a fantastic finish to give us a lead.”
Adams went onto praise the way his men have performed this season, stating that his young squad have done well in some difficult games this season.
“I am delighted with the way we have started the season, if you look at it, we have drawn four games this season, we have had difficult games to play,” he added.
“We have only lost three games this season and we have won all of our Cup games, we would all liked to have a victory [in the league] but it is what it is, it is football, it is sport.
“I think Bristol Rovers fans will come away from the game and think what a good side Morecambe are, we are a young side, you only have to look at MK Dons last season with their squad and they made the Play-Offs.”
